Episode Notes

In this episode of DAOn the Rabbit Hole, we’re talking to Jarrod Dicker. He’s a partner at TCG,  where he focuses on investments in Web 3.0, blockchain, and other technologies that connect fans with creators.

We talk about how Web 3.0 looks set to change things for content creators and for the economy, the internet, and our lives in general.

Jarrod talks about his experiences getting into crypto from a background in media. He breaks down some common ideas and topics like decentralization, DeFi, and the decentralized web, and what kinds of problems these technologies solve.

We discuss why making money as a content creator online is so difficult on the traditional web, and how Web 3.0 is changing that. Jarrod also shares some of the disadvantages and dangers of decentralization, and how we can be aware of those risks.

Finally, we talk about the future. What’s going to happen to traditional big tech companies? Will decentralization wipe them out or force a radical rethink of how the tech industry operates? And are we approaching the point where decentralization will really start to break into the consumer market?
